A Banaras silk fabric has some extra shine coming from the metallic thread used in the fabric. The metallic thread provides some stiffness to the fabricwith motifs and patterns woven in gold or silver threads. The technique is intricate, the procedure complex and demands great expertise .As the warp and the weft are interwoven on the loom, small ,often minute shuttles with gold thread are introduced to form the motif. When the design of the motif is completed, a knot is made and the gold thread cut. The weaving continues until the next design. The smaller the motif or the more intricate the design, the more complex the weaving skills required. Silk weaving in Banaras is a cottage industry and in many areas of the city, especially the Muslim quarters, one can see looms at work all day .

THERMAL / BLACKOUT DETACHABLE CURTAIN LINING  .You are buying a pair of luxury blackout curtain linings treated with SRC solar reflective coating, which provides greater blackout and thermal properties than standard blackout linings. They will fit curtains of the sizes quoted (width x drop) the linings are approx 2" shorter than the sizes stated so that they do not hang lower than the actual curtains. They have a 1" heading tape into which you can insert your curtain hooks to drape behind your existing curtains. These linings will attach to any standard pencil pleat curtains, not eyelets or tab tops. BLACKOUT These linings are blackout and are perfect for night workers' bedrooms, nurseries and for people who tend to be woken by early morning sunlight. Standard curtain lining has a sunblock factor of 4, whereas our blackout lining has a sunblock factor over 4000!! . These linings were purchased for my son, to try and convince him to sleep a little better.

The rook is kept dark enough, and cooler than without the linings. They were easy to hang and I'll be purchasing another 2 pairs for my daughter's room and our own.
